HUNSLET ACCOLADE FOR ROY SAMPSON |

Stanley
Rangers Roy Sampson was inducted into the Hunlset Hall of Fame
at a recent dinner of the The Hunslet Club. Roy began in 1983
being signed by Hunslet from Stanley Rangers and made 203 1st
team appearances, scoring 40 tries while playing for 12 seasons,
6 of them as captain. He became head coach in 2000 and was
nominated for Coach of the Year in 2005.
Roy coached
Rangers Open Age team and the club paid tribute to Roy when he
retired at the end of the 2023 season having worked the team up
from Division Five to to top of Division One.

It
was a great day at Stanley Rangers on Saturday - 16th August -
with a full day of events.
In the morning the junior gala took place.
A huge thank you to Craig Robinson for his impeccable
planning and organising to make the second year such a
great success.Thank you to all the volunteers and also
to the community clubs who attended helping make the
Gala fun as well as showcasing what rugby league has to
offer:
Cottingham Tigers ARLFC, Lock Lane ARLFC, Dodworth
Miners ARLFC, Doncaster Toll Bar ARLFC,
Hunslet ARLFC, Lambwath Lions, Normanton Knights ARLFC,
Moldgreen RLFC, Sharlston Rovers, Milford ARLFC, Siddal
RLFC and East Leeds ARLFC.
 On Saturday
afternoon we hosted our 3rd annual memorial match which
takes place between the open age and the masters team -
along with guests.
We inaugurated the match in 2023 to remember two Rangers
that had sadly passed away - Simon Leary and James
Howcroft. We decided to continue this match in
subsequent years to remember all of those in the Rangers
family that we had lost, recently or otherwise.

O'Neill, Oliver McCraw, Nathan Copley, Harry Thompson,

RANGERS UNDER 10s AND UNDER 11s AT TRINITY |

Congratulations
to our Under 10s and Under 11s at the Community Festival at
Wakefield Trinity before the St Helens game on Friday 9th
August. Teams taking part were Blackbrook Royals U10s,
Pilkington Recs U10s, Stanley Rangers U10s, Kippax Welfare U11s and Stanley Rangers U11s.

CLUB FUNDRAISER DAY IS 4 DAYS AWAY! |

days to go to our annual club fundraiser taking place.
For the second year running we see the primary teams
host their gala followed by the third memorial game to
commemorate those we have unfortunately lost along the
way.
There'll be plenty to do on the day with stalls,
raffles, BBQ, face
painting, food and drink. The aim is to provide funds
to teams for equipment in the 2026 season along with
funds towards a multi functional tractor/mower that will
see us being able to complete pitch maintenance
effectively.
Everyone is welcome, so come down and have a great day!

Rangers Open Age team just lost out in
the last minutes of the game at Siddal Academy 26-28. Siddal
stay in fourth place in the Premier Division with Stanley in
fifth. The next game for the Open Age team is on Saturday at
home against Newsome Panthers, 2.30pm kick off. |

RANGERS GALA AND MEMORIAL DAY |

For the first time the Junior Rugby Gala and the
Commemorative game between the Open Age and the Masters,
will take place on the same day - Saturday 16th
August.
Now in its second year, the Gala will have teams
from U7s, U8s, U9s and U10s taking part in a festival of
rugby league. So far we have around 30 teams
representing 11 clubs across 4 age groups.
This is followed by the third annual Memorial Game.
Initially set up to remember past team mates James
Howcroft and Si Leary which we have continued this each
year and continue to remember them both, along with
others from the Rangers family we have lost along the
way. We’ll post a few people we intend to remember in
the coming weeks.
Throughout the day there will be stalls, raffles, ice
cream van, BBQ and more.
Please come along and help raise money for Stanley
Rangers and have a great time in the process!

WAKEFIELD TRINITY SUMMER CAMP AT RANGERS THIS WEEK! |

Wakefield
Trinity will be holding a Summer Primary Rugby Camp at Stanley
Rangers from Monday 28th to Thursday 31st July from 10am to 2pm.
This is open to players 6-11 years old and the cost is £15 per
day or £50 for the week. There's still places for
Thursday 31st July.

RANGERS UNDER 8S AT TRINITY |

On Thursday night
( 24th July) at the
DIY Kitchens Stadium, Wakefield Trinity welcomed nine Community
Club teams down for the Pre-Match Community Festival
including our Under 8s. Other teams playing were York Acorn U9s, Crigglestone All Blacks U8s, Ackworth Jaguars U9s, Sharlston Rovers U8s, Elland U8s, East Leeds U8s, Sherburn Bears U8s and Batley Bulldogs U8s.

RANGERS LOSE OUT TO FRYSTON |

Rangers played Fryston Warriors at home
on Saturday 19th July and lost out 18-24. Tries came from Jake
Ware (2) and Liam Grimmett and Man of the Match Harry Thompson
kicked three successful conversions.

UNDER 14s SCHOLARSHIPS NEWS |

a club, Stanley Rangers main ethos is to provide rugby league
opportunities for all and here are 10 of our Under 14s who have
signed scholarship contracts with 4 Super League clubs this
week. Jake has signed for Bradford Bulls RLFC; Enoma, Oscar and
Layson for Wakefield Trinity; Logan and Seth for Warrington
Wolves and Luke, Dylan, Joe and Leo for Castleford Tigers.
Well done to the 14s team and staff and big
congratulations to these players who have signed.
Well
done to Isaac Oughton and Joel Walsh from Stanley Rangers who
were chosen for the Bradford Bulls Reserve squad playing at Hull
KR on Saturday as they continue their rugby league journey.

Ranger Park for Under 7s, Under 8s, Under 9s and Under 10s. The

OWEN TROUT NEWS |

Congratulations to Owen Trout, Leigh Leopards, who has been
selected in the 32-man England squad. Owen and his brother Kyle
were Stanley Rangers players from junior ages upwards. Diving
back into the Stanley Rangers archives here was Owen playing in
the Under 10s in a match against Drighlington in November 2009
scoring four tries and getting the Man of the Match award! Owen
played for Leeds Rhinos, Dewsbury Rams and Featherstone Rovers
before signing for Huddersfield Giants in 2020 and then on to
Leigh in 2024.

EWAN IS TRINITY'S ACADEMY PLAYER OF THE MONTH |

Rangers Ewan Molyneux has been chosen by the Youth team coaches
of the Wakefield Trinity Academy as the Player of the Month for
June.
Ewan played for Rangers as a junior and in a
further search through the website archives there's a report of
Ewan in the Under 11s in 2018!

The Open Age were drawn against Cutsyke Raiders in the YML
Premier Division Cup and had a 24-0 result. This puts them in
4th place in the group with 3 wins out of 4 games. Last weekend
they drew 30-all at Doncaster Toll Bar keeping them in 5th place
in the YML Premier Division.
The Under 14s had a good win
over Drighlington 22-10 on Sunday. Tries were scored by Dylan
Wilson, L. Dillon and a brace for N. Osawe with 3 goals kicked
by Logan Grice. This result keeps them in 3rd place in the YJYL
Division One.

Tonight - Thursday 26th - our Girls
team are at home against Knottingley Mustangs Women and Girls
ARLFC with a 7pm kick off, on the main pitch at Ranger Park. Come along and give the
girls your support!
Our Under 14s had a
close game against York Acorn llast Sunday and came away with a 14-10 win,
moving them into 3rd place in the YJYL Under 14s Division 1
table. Their next game is on Sunday 6th July against
Drighlington. |

Stanley
Rangers Under 11s were in action last Friday evening at
the pre-match Festival at DIY Kitchens Stadium before the
Wakefield Trinity game against Wigan Warriors. More than 130
players were taking part - Stanley Rangers, Hunslet ARLFC U11s,
Crigglestone All Blacks U10s, Siddal ARLFC U11s, Upton ARLFC
U11s, Elland RLFC U1s, Hemsworth U10s, Shaw Cross Sharks U10s
and U11s.
As always, our junior team did the club proud!

It's
a busy weekend with all our teams in action.
On Saturday
- 21st June - the Open Age Reserves are travelling to
Scarborough to take on the Scarborough Pirates (see below for
news about the coach to the game), kick off at 2.30pm. The Under
12s are at home to Heworth with an 11.30am kick off; the Under
11s are away at Drighlington and the Under 10s are at home
against Hunslet, kicking off at 10.30am.
On Sunday - 22nd June - the Under 18s travel to
York with an 11.30am kick off; the Under 14s are also away at
York; the Under 9s are at home to Newsome on the St Peters
school field, 11.30am KO; the Under 8s are at home against
Elland also on the St Peters School field kicking off at 10am;
the Under 7s are at home against West Leeds with a 10am kick off
and finally our Under 6s are away at Greetland.

Scarborough Pirates :
We have a limited number of places for the bus to
Scarborough for the Reserves game on Saturday 21st June
(Station Road, Scarborough, YO11 3TG).
The bus will depart the Clubhouse at 11.15am and get
back for 7.30pm.
Reach out to a coach/player to book your spot now. Your
place will not be confirmed until payment has been
received.

The Open Age side will take on Siddal, with a win for the
Rangers seeing them guaranteed a semi-final spot in the
Yorkshire Mens Cup Competition.

7s. The Under 6s are for boys and girls in school year 1 and
have training on a Wednesday at 5.30pm. The Under 7s are for
boys and girls in school year 2 and trainn on a Monday at
6.30pm. Both teams play their fixtures on Sundays in
a Tag and festival format.

their first game of the 2025 season and in their smart new kit.
They had fun and were keen to play. This team is for Year 2 boys
and girls.

a busy weekend for Stanley Rangers after the Easter break.
Beginning on Friday - 25th April - the Girls team are at
home to Batley Girls with a 6.30pm kick off and the Under 14s
are at home to York Acorn with a 7.30pm kick off.
On
Saturday - 26th April - the Masters are at home to Birkenshaw
Masters kicking off at 1.30pm; the Under 12s are away at
Heworth, 11.30am kick off; the Under 11s are away at York Acorn
with a 11.30am kick off; the Under 10s also have an away game at
the Hunslet Blues and the Open Age are away at Newsome Panthers
(Hall Bower Lane, Newsome, Huddersfield HG4 6RN) in round
3 of the Yorkshire Mens League with a 4pm kick off.
On
Sunday - 27th April - the Under 9s travel to Newsome for a
9.30am kick off; the Under 8s are at home against Hunslet with a
10am kick off and the Under 7s are away at Ossett/Upton, kick

the Community Festival at the DIY Kitchen Stadium before last
week's clash against Castleford Tigers. The Under 8s, Under 8s
'A' and the Under 9s were among more than 90 players on the
pitch and did the club proud!

Almondbury Spartans on Saturday 24-18, keeping them 4th in the
Premier Division. Man of the Match was Charlie Ledger, with

CUP WINS FOR OUR JUNIOR AND YOUTH TEAMS |

Well done to our Under 18s and Under
14s who both won their cup games at the weekend. The Under 18s
had a closely-fought match against Illingworth and came away
22-20 winners in the YJYL Continuation Cup, Round 1. The Under
14s beat Keighley Albion 52-4 in their YJYL Challenge Cup Round
1 game.
The draw for the next rounds of the
Challenge and Continuation Cups games was made tonight (1st
April) and the Under 18s will be away at Knottingley on the 27th
April and the Under 14s will be at home to either York or Shaw
Cross on the 29th June. |

MINI RANGERS ARE BACK! |

Stanley Rangers Mini Rangers are for 3-5 year old boys and girls
and everyone is welcome. New sessions will begin in April and
will be every Wednesday evening from 5.30-6.15pm at the St
Peters School field. Coaches are fully qualifield and vetted and
are aimed at showing the basics and enjoyment of being in a team
sport in a fun and friendly way. Contact Jonathan Haran (07841

Our Under 8s and Under 9s were busy at
the half time festival at the Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity
game on the 15th February. And our Under 11s were at the
Featherstone Rovers festival on Sunday 17th February. All the
teams are looking forward to the start of their seasons.

Age training will be at Stanley Sports & Social Club
tomorrow - Saturday 15th February - at 9am. All players
are welcome - new and old! Indoor training is at Outwood
Grange on Tuesday at 8pm.
Once again, we will
be running two Open Age teams - the 1st team will be
defending their YML Premier Division championship
and the Reserves will be joining the Yorkshire Mens
League Division 6.
News about 2 upcoming
friendlies for you - on 1st March there's an away game
against Bentley ARLFC and then a home match against
Eastmoor Dragons on the 8th March.

Our
Under 7s and 8s are busy training for the pre-match festival at
Wakefield Trinity on 26th January.
If you're looking for
a way to get your children into a sport, come along and try
rugby league for boys and girls. No experience is required and
we have trained coaches who will give them all the help and
encouragement they need. For Under 7s it's school year 2 and for
under 8s it's school year 3. Training is on Monday evenings and
the games are on Sunday mornings.

MATCH POSTPONED |

Unfortunately due to the adverse weather conditions we have had
to postpone the BetFred Challenge Cup 1st round match against
Hunslet ARLFC on Saturday 9th January.
The game will now
be played on Saturday 18th January at Ranger Park with a 2pm
kick off. We are also looking for a match sponsor. Anyone who is
interested please contact us through our Facebook page or
contact one of the coaches.

MASTERS TRAINING RESTARTS IN 2025 |

 Training
for season 2025 will begin on Tuesday 7th January. The
Masters have the 1G Astro booked at Outwood Grange
Academy from 8-9pm which will be shared with the
Open Age and the Under 18s. Please bring £5 on your first session
to go towards the hire. This will be a one-off payment.
The sessions will run for 10 weeks, after which
the training will revert back to training at the club.
