Open Age Match Reports, 2007-8 Stanley Rangers 18 v Hull Isberg 34 Stanley Rangers took on the challenge of playing Hull Isberg whose recent form has been steadily improving but were unable to see their opponents off, losing 18-34. At the interval it was all-square, with 12 points apiece and nothing to choose between the two teams. Hull's Andy Kay scored two goals whilst Gareth Whitehead had one in the early stages of the game, giving Isberg an early lead but a Simon Carr try converted by Whitehead, gave Stanley the lead. Kay crossed for a try to level up only for Richard Cattley to put Stanley in front.. However a try from Paul Birdick made the score 12-all at the break. Stanley went ahead in the second half with a try from Whitehead who converted it successfully but two tries from Rob Shaw and four goals from Kay put Isberg ahead and a final try from Matt McNee sealed Hull's win. Next weekend, Stanley are away to Egremont Rangers. |
