Stanley Rangers 20 v Milford Marlins 22
19.01.08

Disappointment for Stanley when they were just beaten by two points finishing 20-22 against Milford Marlins.

Stanley's points in the first half came from centre John Nunns who made a superb solo score over 50 metres with Danny Grice converting it. Milford's points came from tries from Smith and Mead. At half time, Rangers were just behind 6-8.

In the second half, Sampson put Stanley ahead with a powerful try just two minutes after the restart, again goaled by Grice. Further points for the home side were then added by a penalty from Grice and a try from stand-off Ben Walker. However Milford forced their way back with a try from winger Matt Smith converted by Paul Coates, with Grice responding with his fourth goal. Milford then continued their revival with a second try from Mead eight minutes from time and then a final Chadwick try gave the visitors the vital two points lead.

This result moves Milford into third place in the league and Stanley in seventh place.

Next weekend, Stanley travel to Ovenden.

Rangers: Tries - Nunns, Sampson, Walker. Goals - Grice (4)

Milford: Tries - Mead (2), Smith (2), Chadwick. Goals - Coates.
