Open Age Match Reports, 2007-8 Normanton Knights 26 v Stanley Rangers 8 A tough game against old rivals Normanton Knights saw Stanley disappointed with a 8-26 result. Normanton's halfback Mick Hill, who hit seven out of seven goals, opened the scoring with a third minute penalty before adding the extras to stand-off Richard Dobson's try on 19 minutes. Stanley opened their account with a Danny Grice penalty. On the 34th minute, Normanton added to their score with a try from Chris Lewis, converted by Hill, to give the Knights a 14-2 lead at half time. Repairs to the flood lights during half-time meant the game continued with a determined assault by Stanley on the Normanton defence. However three penalty goals to Normanton saw the Knights move out of reach. Stanley pulled back a try by Gareth Whitehead, converted by Danny Grice. Normanton replied with a try from centre Kevin Bateman, again converted by Hill, to finish 26-8, Next weekend, Stanley travel to Milford Marlins. |
