Under 11s Wildcats Match Reports, 2007-8

Stanley Rangers U11s Wildcats v Crigglestone All Blacks U11s
24.11.07

In a game where defence was the order of the day the Wildcats came out on top to maintain thier unbeaten run after being severely tested by a much improved All Blacks team. The first half was very much controlled by the All Blacks who were on the attack for most of the half. It was only an outstanding defensive effort from the Wildcats that kept out wave after wave of All Blacks pressure. After 9 continuous sets of tackles it was the Wildcats that broke the deadlock in almost thier first real attack of the game with powerful prop Ben Fisher crashing over the line for the only score of the half leaving the score at 6-0 in favour of the Wildcats.

The second half opened up more for the Wildcats but it was the All Blacks that scored the first points of the half. This was the wake up call the Wildcats needed as they went on to score 2 further tries again from the rampaging Ben Fisher to give him a hat trick of tries. The All Blacks responded with their second and last try of the game and it was left to the Wildcats and again Ben Fisher to put the game out of the reach of the All Blacks. That was the final try of the game leaving Ben Fisher with all 4 tries to his name after coming on from the bench in the first half. There were 3 conversions from the Wildcats with Lewis Gower, Tom Shippen and Jacob Unwin being succesful.

The coaches' Man of the Match went to Jack Pemberton for his work around the acting half position, the parents' Man of the Match went to a four try performance from Ben Fisher and the Magic Moment award went to Jack Taylor for some excellent defence and positioning to break down the All Blacks attack.
