Under 11s Wildcats Match Reports, 2007-8 Stanley Rangers U11s Wildcats v Whinmoor U11s This was a severe test of the Wildcats unbeaten record this season in Division 2, having been promoted in their first season last year. Whinmoor were expected to be a stern test and that is how it turned out. the visitors were very strong and opened the scoring in the first half. Stanley were finding it hard work to break down the Whinmoor defence and mistakes were plentiful but Dominic Dorgan did manage to open the Wildcats accountwith the first of his brace. After a tough first half the score showed Whinmoor just ahead. The second half began in the same way with Whinmoor adding 2 tries to thier tally and at that stage looking like certain winners. However, the last 10 minutes of the game saw Stanley find some fighting spirit and they scored 2 tries with Man of the Match Alex Hobson and a second for Dom Dorgan. Both goals were added and it was left for Stanley to defend their line in a frantic finish. Some excellent work from Robert Hartley saw him receive the magic moment for 4 consecutive tackles in the final set of 6 and keeping the Whinmoor attack at bay. Overall not the best performance from the Wildcats but thier spirit and determination won through in the end and they maintained their 100% record, although the score possibly did not reflect Whinmoor's efforts. The parents' Man of the Match went to Dominic Dorgan for his 2 tries and his tackling towards the end of the game. |
