Under 18s Team News, 2003

Stanley Rangers Under 18s have started the season in excellent style winning their first 3 league games and progressing to the Yorkshire Cup Final after a terrific game against East Leeds. They have amassed a staggering 213 points whilst only conceding 56 points. with only a small squad, players have had to dig in every week with new signings Gaz Footy and Craig Fawcett playing their part. Danny Millington and old head Gaz Whitehead keep the forwards on their toes while Jamie Chappel, John Nunns and Richard Cattley are playing well.

We have been dogged by injuries, with Kevin King having an operation to remove a torn cartilage and looking like he will be missing 6 weeks. Craig Cawthray who represented Great Britain Under 18s on 27th November, injured his ankle and looks like missing the new few weeks, whilst in the match against East Leeds Carl Clawson who had been playing well in the centres broke his fore arm. He is in plaster and will be missing 8 weeks rugby.

It's going to take some commitment and team spirit to achieve anything like last year's Under 18s but we are pleased with our performances to date.

Keep up the good work boys.

Charlie, Keith and Gez.
