Ackworth 6 vs Stanley Rangers 30 Stanley Rangers were too strong for their opponents and move on to the next round of the Unison President's Cup. Poor conditions contributed to a below-par perfomance from Stanley but they still took the lead with a Jimmy Turner try, converted by Gareth Whitehead. The lead was increased with a further try from Ben Walker, again converted by Whitehead. Ackworth rarely threatened a strong Stanley defence and a Whitehead penalty increased the lead to 14 points. Dean Sampson crashed over for a try, converted by Whitehead who added a converted try of his own after the break. Ackworth hit back with a converted try but James Robins added the final score for Stanley. Whitehead's all-round play and kicking earned him the Man of the Match award. |
