Stanley Rangers 47 v Dewsbury Celtic 18
02.10.04

Stanley Rangers' forward play was the key to the demolition of Dewsbury Celtic 47-18.

The opening try was scored by Stuart Godfrey from a chip through by Gareth Whitehead who then converted it. Dewsbury cut the gap with a penalty conversion but were pinned in their own half for the remainder of the first half.

The second Stanley try came from a stunning flick pass infield from James Robins to keep a move alive led to the try scoring by Gareth Whitehead by the upright. He also converted it. Dewsbury kept in touch with a converted try but Stanley were quickly back in their stride after the break when James Howcroft fed Whitehead for his second try, again converted. More excellent approach play from Rangers enabled David O'Neill to go over with Whitehead converting successfully. Moments later Dean Sampson benefited from sound approach play to go over also converted by Whitehead. With Dewsbury's defence crumbling hooker Danny Millington scored with a successful conversion from Whitehead.

Dewsbury came back with an unconverted try then after a Whitehead drop goal, replied with a converted try. Simon Carr and Jon Cooper scored further tries again converted successfully by Whitehead.

Man of the match went to Danny Millington.
