Hunslet Warriors 14 v Stanley Rangers 13
Third Round GMB Union National Cup
22.01.05

Stanley Rangers were just edged out by Hunslet Warriors 13-14 in the third round of the GMB Union National Cup.

Rangers lead by 6-4 at half time through an early try from captain and loose forward Stuart Godfrey which was goaled by Gareth Whitehead. The home side responded with a try by Dave Roberts.

Warriors had their prop Gareth Baker sent off and Ranger's Gareth Dobson booted over a field goal. On 55 minutes Hunslet's winger went over in the corner and then the home side's score was increased with a converted try from Dobson. However, Stanley piled on the pressure in the final quarter and fought back with Dobson's successful penalty goal and then a try from second row Mark Robinson out wide. Dobson's conversion attempt struck the upright and bounced the wrong way for Stanley, leaving Hunslet with the narrowest victory.
