Well today we travelled to
Leeds Underdogs on a bright sunny day.
Rangers were up for the
challenge this week following our 1st win of the season last week. We
started slow and the Underdogs took an early lead but failed to convert,
4 nill down in the first ten minutes. Stanley fought back and were strong
in defence, and held their composure, and at times showed some brilliance.
We gave away silly penalties which kept the pressure on us, but we rode
the storm. Some great tackling from all the boys and great reactive play
from Lewis to save us several times. Oakley had a brilliant 40 metre run
but was brought down short of the line being denied the try.
Half time and the Rangers
regrouped, and started the second half with confidence and the commitment
I have been trying to instill into the lads, and it wasn't long before
Marlan ran one in from a long run up the wing, score 4 -4. Underdogs kept
us under pressure but failed to execute and Rangers took advantage with
another 2 tries from Marlan and 1st try of the season from Ben L, and a
goal from Lewis. At times Rangers showed great field position and
selflessness and commitment to each other, and signs of brilliance, to
finish the game 18 points to 4 in favour of the Rangers.
Once again thanks to all
involved, and to all the parents for bringing the boys.
