Match report by Mark Talbot, Coach:
"Today we played Leeds Underdogs on St.
Peters school field. The lads came with a whole new outlook to this
game, we knew the Doggies wanted revenge after we defeated them at
their ground, and we'd come off the back of a defeat to Eastmoor, but
the training sessions in mid week had been positive, and the lads
turned up talking about that positivity, and talking to each other and
encouraging each other.
From kick off we ran hard and controlled the game. We scored first
too, which hasn't happened in a long time, the lads knew they had this
game won early on with moments of positive play that just looked so
natural and in control. Defensively we were awesome, with Leeds unable
to break tackles. Their only score came from a wonderful solo effort
from their loose forward who chipped over the defensive line and the
ball bounced up nicely for him to score.
We finished the game 24-4 victors in a well orchestrated game that
Stanley controlled from start to finish. We couldn't pick out a man of
the match as everyone stepped up their game and gave 100%.
Let's keep playing with this energy and enjoyment and we'll go
far. Well done lads."
