Under 15s Match Reports, 2003-4

Smawthorne U15s 4 v Stanley Rangers U15s 12
31.01.04

An injury-hit Stanley side still managed to beat their hosts Smawthorne 12-4 and remain top of Division One.

Despite the poor weather and the team reshuffle, Stanley coped well and took the lead with a Jason Tingey try, converted by Andy Campbell. Smawthorne hit back with a try from a Stanley handling error but Stanley replied just before half time when James Davey dummied, split the defence and raced 40 metres to score under the posts, with Campbell again converting.

The second half saw both sides run their hearts out in the pouring rain but neither could find a score, although Stanley came closest when Phil Jackson was given the ball on the last tackle but could not get the ball down over the line.
