Stanley progressed into the final of the Wakefield U16's cup
with a very decisive result against local rivals Crigglestone.
Stanley produced some of their best rugby to date to reach
the final with both centres showing clean heels to their opponents
to show the way. Stanley opened the scoring with a well worked
try scored by Daniel Ledgeway giving Stanley a good start
from which they never looked back. All Stanley tries were
scored utilising good passing interchanges and decisive forward
running for which Grice was outstanding in the forwards with
some excellent breaks showing that some props do have good
pace. Also excelling in the forwards were Robinson, Haigh
and Wildey who never stopped running all the game. All Stanley's
tries were scored by their back division with Childs scoring
4, Ledgeway scoring 3 and Boucher 1, with Boucher also adding
3 goals and Robinson adding 4. Danny Gant and Adam Robinson
took the man of the match award with Ledgway, Childs and Grice
pushing them all the way.
Stanley's foundation was set right from the start of this
game with Jeffcote and Crawley marshalling their players with
some strong running and choosing the correct time to pass
to give the scores out wide. Ledgeway and Childs always looked
threatening when Stanley pressed and picked the holes in Crigglestones
defence with precision. Nobody in the Stanley team let themselves
or their spectators down especially Reeve, Brickwood and Silkstone
who are getting better and stronger with every game they play
and all the team are looking forward to the Wakefield Cup
Final.
Our next game is at Home to Elland on Sunday
with a projected Kick off of 11 o'clock.
