|
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Ambassadors Festival Launch took place on Sunday 7th February ahead of the opening game against Widnes Vikings. Coach of the Under 6s and 7s, Emma King, along with some of the teams took part in the rugby games before the match and also the half time parade.
Over 200 children from 22 teams which represented 10 of the Ambassador Clubs came along on the day to take part in a pre-match festival launch, the children had the opportunity to play small rugby games on the Belle Vue pitch.
The Ambassadors Scheme was launched in December 2015 is focused on building budding relationships with local community clubs to see the club be more proactive and responsive with our juniors and youth Rugby League teams to get more children involved with the sport and have a healthy lifestyle.
During half time the clubs also took part in a parade around the ground whilst representatives were officially inducted as ambassadors. Chairman Michael Carter, presented them with a signed rugby ball each and a complimentary season ticket.
Lead Community Officer James Stephenson reflected on the event saying, "This has been one of the biggest pre-match festivals we have ever had a Belle Vue, which is great to see so many Community Clubs on board with Wakefield Wildcats. To see the children being able to perform on the pitch in front of the fans is fantastic.
"It is really important that we build up a relationship with Community Clubs to help support them as the children will be our next generation of rugby players."
