07.02.09
With all of their rivals frost or snow-bound, Crosfields made huge efforts to ensure that this game got under way and their eventual victory has put them two points clear of the re-election place and kept Stanley Rangers out of third place.
A tenth minute try from Jamie Gollings, goaled by Chris Carney, put Rangers ahead. With prop Phil Marshall ripping holes in the home defence Stanley looked set to push forward but Crosfields replied with a 25-minute try from Anthony Monk to cut the home deficit to 6-4 at the break.
Crosfields snatched the lead eight minutes after the restart, when Burgess sliced through the Stanley defencebut on the hour John Nunns crashed through for an unconverted try. Crosfields' Gibbons then added a try which he goaled but it wasn't until the 79th minute that Crosfields smelt victory with Burgess going in for his second try. In injury time, Royle added a fifth try and gave the home side a 24-10 victory.
