Eccles & Salford Juniors 14 v Stanley Rangers 4
24.01.09
After their win over Eccles early on in the season, it was Eccle's turn to take the two points off Stanley with a 14-4 win.
Eccles took an early lead with a Joe Marchant penalty, followed by a Watson try under the posts which gave Marchant an easy conversion. Stanley hit back though when Jamie Howcroft regathered the kick off and forced his way over for a try which Danny Grice failed to convert, hitting the posts. Eccles' Anthony Murray, in his debut game, dummied his way through the visitors' defence to send Danny Lancashire round the posts for a try, converted by Marchant. Eccles went in at the interval with a 14-4 lead.
In the second half there was no further score until Stanley had Grice sent off for dissent, when Eccles took advantage of the situation with a try from Mark Thomas. Matty Firth and Howcroft tried hard to rally Stanley but it was Eccles who took away the points.
Eccles: Tries - Lancashire, Watson, Thomas. Goals - Marchant (3).
Stanley: Tries - Howcroft.
