A last-minute field goal from Danny Grice snatched a win for Stanley in a controversial fashion at the end of an eventful game.
Heworth took the lead with a penalty goal by Adam Jobling but Stanley's centre Joe McDermott replied with a try converted by Grice on 18 minutes. Rangers' Chris Molyneux and Heworth's John Coulson were yellow carded before Luke Judson was sent off. Within a few minutes Heworth took the lead with a try from Marcus Allan. Stanley then took the lead when Jackie Hogan swept in for a Grice-goaled try, giving the visitors a 12-6 lead at half time.
After the break, Welsh crossed for Heworth but Hogan's second try and Grice's third goal pushed Stanley ahead. Musgrave responded for Heworth, with Potter goaling before levelling with a 76th minute penalty. Then Danny Grice's controversial last minute goal made it all over for Heworth.
