In their second game of the new season in the Fraser Eagle NCL Division Two Stanley Rangers beat Lock Lane 20-16.

In the first half, Stanley led 18-0 thanks to tries from John Nunns, Anthony Marsh and Andy Rice, each of which were converted successfully by Gareth Whitehead. Lock Lane rallied in the second half and a try from Mark Holmes reduced the deficit to 14 points.

In the final quarter tries from Lock Lane's Tomlinson and Smith with conversions by Humphries put the game in the balance. But a Whitehead penalty 11 minutes from time gave Stanley the points.

Stanley: Tries - Nunns, Marsh, Rice. Goals - Whitehead (4).

Lock Lane : Tries - Holmes, Tomlinson, Smith.. Goals - Humphries (2).

Half time: 12 - 6.
