Stanley Rangers 24 v Castleford Lock Lane 42
10.10.09
A second half rally by Lock Lane saw them come away from the Lee Moor ground 42-24 winners over Stanley Rangers.
In a close first half it was marginally Stanley's, as a ninth minute try from loose forward Richard Cattley, goaled by scrum-half Gareth Whitehead, gave them the start they wanted. However Lock Lane replied with tries from Tom Wood and James Cryer, both goaled by Danny Rouse. Rangers replied with tries from John Gledhill and Gareth Rawlinson, converted by Whitehead, to give the hosts a 18-12 lead at half time.
With centre David Foster running well and with Matty Firth and Danny Grice looking lively, Stanley could have felt confident for the second half but Lock Lane scored a second try from Wood, goaled by Rouse to level the scores and from then on, the visitors dominated the game. Further tries from Lane's Rob Arthurs and Andy Matthews (2) in an eight minute spell and then a second try from Cryer in the 70th minute saw the match put out of Stanley's reach. A consolation try from Cattley pulled the score back but a third try from Cryer sealed the game, leaving Lock Lane 42-24 winners and moving them into top spot in the table.
Stanley travel to bottom-of-the-table Ovenden next weekend.
