Eccles and Salford Juniors 14 v Stanley Rangers 26
19.02.11
Rangers took the first half by storm to deny Eccles a second half comeback and earn a 26-14 win. This result gives Rangers temporary control at the top of Division One.
Hooker Matty Firth was first over the line for Rangers and his try was followed in quick succession by Scott Childs and Danny Sampson. Danny Grice was successful with two conversions. Eccles had their chances in the first half and it was a closer game than the scoreline suggested.
With the second half beckoning, Rangers added further scores with tries from Kevin King and James Gollings. Rangers went into the interval with a 26-0 lead.
In the second half, Eccles got straight back to work and Muscat scored in the 49th minute with a second try from Marc Jones. Neither try was converted which gave Eccles with a lot to do. Muscat however scored and converted his own try with 10 minutes to go but Rangers stood firm to the end and halted any further scoring.
This weekend, Stanley travel to local rivals Oulton Raiders.
