Stanley Rangers 12 v Oulton Raiders 22
04.09.10
Stanley Rangers' first game in Division One was a tough fixture, facing Oulton Raiders who had been relegated from the Premier Division last season by a very narrow margin. However, Rangers made the visitors battle for every point with hooker Darryl Gaunt in the thick of the action.
Raiders Ash Newman took the lead with an 18-minute try, converted by Brook, but the home side responded with a Jacky Hogan try in the corner, goaled by Kevin King to bring the scores level. Nathan Batty put the visitors ahead to make it 6-10 at half time.
After the interval, King pulled back a penalty to make the score 8-10 but Newman's second try six minutes later, again goaled by Brook gave Oulton the upper hand. On 54 minutes sub Adrian Holdsworth grabbed a fourth Raiders' try, again converted by Brook. However, Stanley battled on and claimed a well-deserved try by Gaunt but were not able to catch up on Oulton's lead, making the final score, Rangers 12, Oulton Raiders 22.
