Rochdale Mayfield 24 v Stanley Rangers 28
02.10.10
Stanley's promising start to the season continued with a good away win against Rochdale Mayfield 28-24, coming back from a second half deficit to win the game.
Rangers' centre Jackie Hogan started with a fifth minute try, converted by Kevin King. King then added a second try in the 25th minute with one from Matty Firth on the half hour.
Mayfield's reply didn't come until a minute before half time when substitute Ben Simpson got over the line. Corcoran landed the conversion. Rangers went in at the interval 14-6 ahead.
In the second half, Rochdale came swiftly back with a try from Ben Kumai one minute after kick off with Corcoran converting successfully to make it 16-14. A further Rochdale try from Kershaw, goaled by Corcoran, looked to have given Rochdale the game, but Stanley fought back with try number two from Matty Firth and a further one from Joel Marsh five minutes from time. King landed both goals and Rangers' back-to-back wins moved them up to fourth place.
This coming weekend, Stanley have a home game against Millom.
