Stanley Rangers 24 v Rochdale Mayfield 28
27.03.11
After a 10-point lead in the first half, Stanley must be wondering what went wrong in this closely-fought tussle between 2nd and 3rd in the table.
In the opening period, centre Craig Williamson crossed twice and Danny Grice added the first of his four goals. Mayfield, however, replied with a brace of tries from stand-off Matt Garland and further tries by Andrew Moroney and Chris Brett, each of which Gleeson converted, led to a 24-18 lead with 15 minutes left.
Rangers second half score had been limited to a try by Danny Sampson and a couple of Grice penalties restored parity when second row David Baxby powered over 7 minutes from time, Grice improving.
It was four minutes from time when Rochdale took the spoils with a Paul Lane try to make the final result Stanley Rangers 24 - Rochdale Mayfield 28.
This coming weekend, Stanley do not have a game.
