Stanley Rangers 16 v Stanningley 8
25.09.10
Stanley Rangers continued their impressive form with a fine win over Stanningley.
However, it was still tough going. First points went to Stanley with a seventh minute try from scrum half Gareth Whitehead, followed by a touchdown from second row Taz Wildey on 18 minutes.
Both scores were unconverted and they proved to be the only ones in a defence-dominated first half, despite the best efforts of the home side's loose forward Kev King and Stanningley centre Jimmy Bardgett.
The visitors got their first points on the scoreboard in the 43rd minute with a Frank Mayfield try and a Russell Cartmell penalty but a King penalty pushed the home side four points in front.
The crucial score came three minutes from time when Danny Grice went over for Stanley and the conversion from King put the game beyond Stanningley's reach.
Stanley travel to Rochdale Mayfield next weekend, 2nd October.
