Stanley Rangers 22 v Castleford Lock Lane 32
24.03.12
On a bright, sunny afternoon at Lee Moor Rangers took on unbeaten visitors Lock Lane but despite a two-point lead in the final quarter a late surge from Lane gave them the two points in a 32-22 win.
A Lock Lane penalty goal taken by Daniel Rowse appeared to go wide of the posts but was judged in giving the visitors the first points. Their first try came from Tom Wood with a second from Mark Spears and Rowse converted both tries to give Lock Lane a 14-0 lead. On 25 minutes a scrap between the players led to Lane's Steve Haywood getting a yellow card. Rangers took the advantage of the extra man and from the penalty Joel Marsh dived over in the corner for their first try. The half time score was 4-14.
The second half began with a fine try 12 minutes in when Scott Childs broke through the Lock Lane line and chipped over his opposing winger before regathering and tossing the ball inside to full back Sean Abson who touched down between the uprights. Craig Williamson added the extras and Stanley were within four points.
Liam Crawley's try on the 58th minute gave Rangers a two-point lead and Rangers looked to be in control. However, Lock Lane fought back with two back-to-back tries in the space of four minutes scored by Garlic and Daley, the first being converted successfully by Hardy.
Scott Childs got on the end of a Gaunt grubber to had Stanley a late lifeline but Lane replied with a try from Mawson to give the visitors a 32-22 win.
