Stanley Rangers 30 v Normanton Knights 32
24.09.11
In this local derby Stanley Rangers led by 22-8 at half time but a strong fightback by Normanton put them back in the game and it took until injury time for the Knights to win by the narrowest of margins 30-32.
An exciting first half saw Rangers get off to a flying start with a five minute try from James Brown. Six minutes later Normanton replied with a try from Paul Seal. Stanley centre Shaun Abson crossed on 15 minutes, converted by Danny Grice and then a second try from Brown was again converted by Grice. Winger Scott Childs then finished a terrific move which again converted. Normanton's Adam Slater forced his way over for their second score making the score at the interval 22-8.
It was Childs who again scored with Normanton's Seal leading the way the visitors fought back firstly with three unanswered tries from Brookes, Hayward and Woolford which were all converted by Clarkson and so levelled the score. Crossland then scored for the visitors, again converted by Clarkson to put Normanton in the lead. However, in one final twist Scott Childs completed his hat trick in injury time but Grice unable to land the conversion it was the Knights who took the two points.
