Oldham St Annes 12 v Stanley Rangers 14
06.10.12
Rangers are still keeping their dream of avoiding relegation alive by narrowly beating Oldham St Annes by 14-12.
Oldham went ahead in the 21st minute with a try by winger Sean Thomas. However, Rangers' Jackie Hogan worked space for David Baxby to crash over and stand-off Danny Grice added the extras. This gave Stanley a narrow two point lead at half time.
Twelve minutes after the restart, Baxby claimed his second try for Stanley and after St Anne's Paul Garrett had been sin-binned, Danny Grice landed a penalty to post an eight-point lead. Oldham's Carl Fields crossed the line and Swaine added the conversion and a penalty. However, when the home side were sanctioned for obstruction eight minutes from time, Danny Grice made no mistake with the penalty to give Stanley the two points.
This coming weekend - 13 October - Rangers are at home to Millom, currently 10th in the league.
