In a thrilling Friday night clash both sides hung on and it was only a late penalty that gave Panthers the home victory.

A Scott Childs try gave Stanley a fourth minute lead and when centre Joel Marsh cut through for a second, goaled by Danny Grice, Rangers had a comfortable ten point lead.

Panthers hit back and on the 18th minute loose forward Paul Steel crossed the line goaled by Lee Norton, before Norton touched down and then added the extras. Despite the superb efforts of Danny Sampson at scrum half for Stanley and a James Brown field goal, a try from Norton on the stroke of half time, gave a 16-11 lead at half time.

The second half was tight with Shaun Abson and Craig Rhodes doing well for Stanley only for the Panthers to increase their lead with a try to Henderson. Stanley hit back through a Charlie Ellis try converted by Grice. However the score swung again with Panthers' Josh Pease touching down in reply. It was end to end stuff and a Samspon try and a goal from Grice closed the gap to three points again. However a late penalty from Wallis gave Panthers just enough breathing space to complete their win.

There is no fixture for the coming weekend owing to the Challenge Cup Final.
