Stanley Rangers 26 v Waterhead 28
18.05.13
Rangers came close to having a much-needed win but visitors Waterhead had a strong second half that gave them a win by just two points.
Stanley started brightly with new signing Paul Hughes scoring on his return to the club and a further try from Gareth Rawlinson, with a conversion by Danny Grice. The 10-0 advantage was reduced by Waterhead with an Ashley Wildman try, goaled by Michael Diveney. Rangers went in at the interval 10-6 ahead.
In the second half, Joel Marsh edged Stanley in front but Waterhead, currently seventh in the division, regained the advantage with tries from Peter Davis, Terry Fitzgerald and Martin Sarsfield and two goals by Diveney. Marsh scored his second try for Stanley and along with a try and conversion by Danny Grice kept up the pressure but were not quite enough to edge a win.
