Open Age Match Reports, 2005-6 Barrow Island 32 v Stanley Rangers 18 North West Counties League leaders Barrow Island defeated Stanley Rangers 32-18, after trailing 12-8 at half time to the visitors. Tries from Craig Cawthray and Jon Cooper plus two Gareth Whitehead goals against one try each from Adam Shaw and Joe Elliot ensured the Rangers lead. But Barry Pugh levelled with the Islanders' third try before Elliot snatched the lead with his second try for Darren Carter to convert. Stanley refused to lie down and a Simon Carr try and a Whitehead conversion kept the game in the balance until Paul Haythorn and Matt Jefferson went in for late Barrow scores. |
