Stanley Rangers 0 v Moorends 10
01.04.06

By Jim Welbourne

In rain and windy conditions, Stanley Rangers started the game using all the elements to their advantage, with Moorends camped inside their own half at the bottom of the slope for long periods, but it was the Moorends defence that mastered the under foot conditions the better, Nathan Hazlewood taking the home defence on from acting half-back to be stopped 10 metres out and then Shaun Carver came crashing onto the ball to carry three defenders over the line with him on the way to open the scoring on 37 minutes 0 - 4. At half time the score was Stanley Rangers 0 - 4 Moorends.

Moorends started the second half by forcing an early error from the home defence and from a couple of drives by Brett Staveley and Wayne Rafferty the scene was set for Shaun Carver to waltz in for his second try of the game converted by Ryan Rafferty 0 - 10. Moorends continue the rest of the second half playing with a solid defence and with the forwards playing straight up and down possession rugby.
