Open Age Match Reports, 2005-6 Sharlston Rovers 12 v Stanley Rangers 15 Sharlston Rovers were just too strong for Stanley Rangers in the final of Wakefield ARL's Unison President's Cup, beating Stanley 42-10. The sides were level, at 10-10, in a game well-hosted by Crofton at the time of Dave Lee’s exit for alleged biting in a scrum. But, remarkably, the rest of the contest belonged firmly to Sharlston. Inspirational player/coach Gordon Long set the tone with a touchdown as the hour mark approached, and Gareth Davies’ hat trick score was another nail in Stanley’s coffin. Lee Maskill scored three tries in the final quarter, when Lee Bettinson also touched down. Adam Thaler landed four goals and Davies had one success. Stanley recorded touchdowns for Jackie Hogan and Steve Scholey, one of which James Robbins improved. Report courtesy of League News [ http://www.leaguenews.co.uk/news.asp?NewsId=2201 ] |
