Open Age Match Reports, 2006-7 Stanley Rangers 31 v Ackworth 4 Stanley Rangers' win over Ackworth 31-4 in the second round of the Yorkshire Cup moved Stanley through to the third round. In an evenly-matched first half, Craig Rhodes made the first try, followed by John Cooper,both converted, put Stanley in front. However, a well-drilled Ackworth prevented Stanley from increasing their lead and then made an unconverted try. Beginning the second half with a 12-4 lead, Stanley continued pressure produced a well-worked try from Stuart Godfrey. Danny Grice then landed an opportunist drop goal followed by a second unconverted try from Godfrey extended the host's lead. Liam Crawley and Ben Walker then went over the whitewash to complete a well-earned victory. Man of the Match was Stuart Godfrey,with the most improved player award going to Joe McDermott. |
