18.11.06

An outstanding second half display from Stanley saw them through to the semi finals of the Yorkshire Cup, overcoming New Earswick All Blacks 28-20.

New Earswick, who are fourth in the Pennine League Premier Division, opened the scoring with a converted try but Andrew Cattley replied with an unconverted try and Danny Grice's successful penalty goal brought the score all square. Attacking play from the hosts saw them go into the break leading 20-6.

Stanley came to life in the second half and despite a couple of injury blows, including a broken jaw for Stanley's Jacky Hogan, Richard Cattley scored an unconverted try. Danny Grice then added a further try and the host's lead was reduced to 20-16. A try out wide for Richard Cattley, converted by Grice and a final try from Danny Duce, converted by Grice, saw Stanley take the honours with a 28-20 win.
