Stanley Rangers 28 v Queens 22
20.01.07

Stanley Rangers closed the gap on the CMS Yorkshire Premier Division leaders as they came from behind to secure a closely-fought victory in a physical encounter over visitors Queens.

The visitors quickly built up a 16-point lead with three tries and two conversions. But Rangers soon hit back with some fine rugby resulting in Liam Crawley powering through the Queens defence with a diagonal run to open the scoring for the hosts. Gareth Whitehead converted the try to cut Queens' lead to 10 points going into the break.

In the second half, Queens made a quick start with a converted try but that was their last points as Stanley began their impressive comeback. Craig Rhodes crossed twice in quick succession against a tiring Queens' defence, both being successfully converted.

Gareth Whitehead kept up the pace as he barged through a packed Queens' defence to cross and convert his own try. Captain Richard Cattley secured the points for Rangers as he went over in the corner following some good build-up play to cap off another impressive performance.

The victory sees Stanley move up to third in the league, just behind league leaders Myton Warriors, with two games in hand.
