Open Age Match Reports, 2006-7 Sharlston Rovers A 18 v Stanley Rangers A 13 A determined Stanley Rangers A were unable to overcome Sharlston Rovers A in the semi-final of the Wakefield & District Buildbase Cup in a hard-fought match. A tense and extremely close affair saw both sides eager to claim a place in the final against Crofton, with the result undecided right to the end of the game. Sharlston A scored first after 8 minutes with a try from Hill. Stanley hit back with a well-taken 12th minute drop goal from Molyneux and then a try from centre Nichol, converted by Molyneux on 17 minutes. A try by Sharlston's Richardson, converted by Collinson, saw Sharlston take the lead on 21 minutes and then increased it with a Collinson penalty just before half time. In the second half, Sharlston had another successful penalty to increase their lead, but in the last 15 minutes Stanley closed the gap to just one point with a try from Hodgson, converted by Turner. However, Sharlston restored the lead with an unconverted try for Collinson. A break by Sharlston's Heath almost made the game safe but for a copybook tackle by Stanley's full back to force him into touch.
