Seven-a-Side Tournament in honour of Jonny Parish
16.05.09

A Seven-a -Side Tournament was held at Stanley Rodillians RU in honour of Jonny Parish who tragically died earlier this year. Jonny had played for Rods and Stanley Rangers ARLFC

6 teams entered:

Rods RU
Leeds Corinthians RU
Stanley Rangers Legends
Belle Vue coms Barbarians
Belle Vue coms
A team made up of Jonny’s family and friends

All the teams played each other in good spirits and a very enjoyable day was had by all.

Stanley Legends came out victorious, winning 4 games and drawing 1. The team consisted of:

Jack Lord (Skipper) (Under 15’s)
Jack Harkness (Under 15’s)
Simon Senkie
Mark Riley
Craig Lord
Mark Colbett
Stan Matthews
Lee Sampson
James Senkie (Under 16’s)

There was some vintage stuff played out there today and the Legends showed the young ones know to go about winning matchs with a great team spirit. No superstars, just honest, hard working lads putting in their all for Stanley Rangers RL.

Again a big thank you to Jonny’s family and Stanley Rodillians for hosting today’s tournament and hope to see you all again next season for the rematch.

RIP Jonny.
