     Stanley Rangers U10s v Churwell Chiefs U10s
      22.03.09
The Rangers won this encounter emphatically, in a game which was far closer than the score represents. The match was a very fast affair, and we struggled during the first period to hit the rich flowing rugby of the past three games.

The big powerful front rowers Reece Matysiak, Niall Fitzsimons, and Tommy Gant all ran hard and direct, and eventually tired out the Churwell defenders who showed a huge amount of spirit.

Sean Smith moving from his role at hooker scored a wonderful solo effort, and raced a full 40 yards to score, he looks like a back rower of the future for me!

Thomas Sowerby again showed his class, he set up two scores, and bagged three beauties the last two being at crucial times through the game. Thomas was awarded the Magic Moment for a perfectly executed inside ball that left a gap for the sensational runner Matty Hobson to exploit to the full. Well done to both boys.

Matty Hobson again stood up, and I would like him to get more ball, but when he did have it, he showed strength, pace, and vision, both down the middle and out wide. Matty bagged the one try, but his overall contribution led to him being awarded the Opposition Man of the Match. Well done !

Jordan O'Neil after a quiet opening period to the game, and some words of encouragement lifted his performance 200%. He worked his socks off and with a final total of 17 tackles, and countless half breaks, and hit ups, he was voted Parents Man of the Match for a great all round effort, and this weeks Top Tackler, well done Jordan.

Brandon Hill, Mathew Sowerby, Harry Smith, Ryan Ellison, Harry Davey,Jacob Barnes and Niall Fitzsimons all raised their efforts in the second half, and even though our individual performances were great, we did not gel as normal, but we march onto Dewsbury Celtic, another team who in the past we have never beaten. The boys and coaches are looking forward to that one.
