      Dewsbury Celtic U10s v Stanley Rangers U10s
      28.03.09

Stanley Rangers Under 10s had a fine result in a game against Dewsbury Celtic away from home. The Rangers turned up on the day in an out of sorts mood, with the warm up being poor, leading to the worst first half in well over a year. Dewsbury well deserved their half time lead and going up hill at that.

The second half and the boys lifted their game, powered forward and began to play the rugby I know they can play.

Nial Fitzsimmons showed how he can run when he gets his head on, he looked for the ball, ran hard, and defended well, a big improvement on his recent form, and he still has plenty to offer, well done Niall.

Ryan Ellison backed up his game last week with a bigger improvement this week, he looked far more confident in defence and pulled off some great tackles, another well done to Ryan.

Matthew Sowerby often overlooked up front was outstanding going forward, and showed his real strength is hitting and spinning, and he finished off with a stunning off load to Tommy Gant to score.

Nick Fowler this week moved into the hooking role, and he loved it, his game is far better when he is involved in the play, and he showed that this could be his position for the coming season. Well done Nick!

Matty Hobson again showed his high level of consistency with a very good performance in both attack and defence. Matty played the full game at centre a position he is excellent at. Matty bagged a superb try too!

Brandon Hill a transfer from the Under 11s looked fantastic today. He ran hard, tackled hard, and made some superb decision-making options with the ball in hand. Brandon will be one of those players that can almost play anywhere, and today he looked dangerous in the back row, centre, and on the wing. Brandon was rewarded for his super performance with the Parents Man of the  Match award, and it was fully justified too! Well done BH.

Tommy Gant - WOW! He has raised his game 200% since big Reece Matysiak came to the club, he looks faster, fitter, tougher, and more determined than ever before, another outstanding performance from the other half of the best front row in the comp.

Big Reece not at his best, but when he did run, he looked awesome, he did one 60yard effort just to lose possession over the line, but well done too!

Matthew Sowerby came onto the field and showed again why he is a sensational replacement for the big guns up front. Matthew ran very hard all game, he took at least 10 hit ups, and on every occasion beat the first man, and made some valuable yards. Matthew also produced a wonderful offload to hand Tommy Gant his try, just got piped for the magic moment by
Sam Tovey, who after only his 4th game is looking better than ever. Sam is a very gifted player, he is very quick over short distances, and to win the magic moment he made an amazing try saving copybook  tackle, he then went onto taking a high bomb, and beating two attacking defenders to clear the line, well done Sam, you deserved that award.

Thomas Sowerby produced yet another hat trick of tries and a great all round performance to take the Opposition Man of the Match award. Thomas made the hardest hit all day, ran with every ounce of strength and aggression, and on three occasions made it out of our in goal area beating attacking defenders to clear our lines, and that was the most impressive part of his game, well done Thomas.

Try scorers for the day were Tom Sowerby (3) Matty Hobson (1) Sean Smith (1) Tommy Gant (1) Niall Fitzsimons (1) Nick Fowler (1)

Next week we are at Normanton, see you all there!
