Headingley U10s v Stanley Rangers U10s
20.09.08
Stanley Rangers Under 10s won for the second week with a scintillating victory over Headingley Hawks. Try scorers and try creators Thomas Sowerby and Cory Eaton took opposition and parents Man of the Match awards with a fine display of rugby league. Thomas Sowerby scored a fine hat-trick of tries, with Corey Eaton creating the space. Cory also scored a try following a bomb by Thomas Sowerby.
Jordan O'Neill for the second week running led from the front in defence. His no-nonsense approach to tackling is proving a valuable asset to the team this season. Sean Smith added to the awards with a magic moment won for a fine length of the field effort, beating several chasing defenders to score.
The game was not just about these four - Tommy Gant was back to his best in attack, Nick Fowler pulled off a wonderful try saving tackle, and was consistently good throughout the game, Harry Smith came off the bench and tackled like a demon and Matty Hobson showed why he is one of the stand out players at this age group with a performance to be proud of.
The team is coming on leaps and bounds, and I feel that the effort in training is paying off on the field. The team is now looking like a well organised outfit, and for their tender years they looked excellent. Well done boys, keep it up.
