Lock Lane U10s v Stanley Rangers U10s
13.06.09
Stanley played the top outfit Lock lane and with no fewer than 7 first choice players missing produced a sensational first half. The half time score of 18 to 12 was a superb effort, but in the second half the lack of outside backs, the regular hooker, and stand off took its toll. The Rangers squandered possession on many occasions and the massive Lock Lane forwards needed no invitation to the line, and in the end proved worthy winners.
I am however pleased with some of the players who with their backs against the wall last night stood up tall. Tommy Gant and Reece Matysiak played superbly and for most part matched the opposition forwards.
Jordan O.Niel and Sean Smith got into their stride and made some headway and at hooker for the first time, Jacob Barnes tried his best, and was 100% committed.
Thomas Sowerby for most of the game caused the most problems for Lock Lane, scoring three quick fire tries, and as a result received the Opposition Man of the Match award, for the amazing 17th time this season.
The Top Tackler could have gone to any of three, with Sean Smith, Jordan O'Niel, Tommy Gant, and Brandon Hill all got into double figures, but on the night, Brandon took the award.
The Parents voted for big blocker Tommy Gant as their Man of the Match, and he did have a great game.
Mathew Sowerby again showed how consistent he is at prop, as did Sam Tovey on the wing.
The season is almost over, and next season with the likes of Levi Johnson, Tom Sale and Tom Mynett all coming to the Rangers we are looking like a side who will be throwing that ball around with glee.
The next fixture is against East Leeds, a side we have never beaten, and we hope to end that run too
