Won a fine game against Milford away. The game was played at a fast pace, with the opposition showing a huge improvement from last time out. Tommy Gant was the star of the show in both attack and defence, and leading the tackling along with Matty Hobson who again excelled in defence, and Jordan O'Neill. The team had an unfamiliar look to it with players being trialed in different positions, but the formulas still worked well enough for a good victory.
Tries were scored by Tom Sowerby with 2, one a full length of the field effort, 2 from the man of the match ( chosen by the opposition) Matty Hobson, two from Tom Robbins (more about him later) and one by our very own version of Bruce Lee Sean "i'll kill you with my bare hands" Smith.
The Magic Moment was awarded to Tom Robbins who today showed what all good outside backs should do, and that's support. Tom Sowerby beat several defender to race towards the full back drew his man, and passed to Robbo, who not only read the play, but more than matched Tom for pace, an outstanding bit of work, and a well done to Tom Robbins.
Opposition Man of the Match went to the tireless attacker and defender Matty Hobson. Matty worked his socks off all game and showed how a high intense effort is rewarded. Mathew scored his now customary 2 try's, there is nothing like consistency.
The Coaches and Parents Man of the Match went to the Top Tackler too, none other than Tommy "steam train" Gant. Tommy was awesome all game, in both defence and attack, and in my opinion was the difference between winning and losing, a top effort all round, well done Tommy.
Sean Smith again showed a great awareness of his role, and distributed the ball very well, and did what all good hookers do, and that's scoot at the right time, and bagged a well deserved 4 pointer.
The boys entertain Wetherby next week, a team who can mix it with the best of them, we will accept the challenge, and look forward to a game which is always played in a wonderful spirit
