     Normanton Knights U10s v Stanley Rangers U10s
      19.05.09

What a game. Stanley came to this encounter on the back of two very tight games, one being a close defeat against Lock Lane, but you would never know. Stanley threw everything at Normanton, and to their credit defended better than any side we have played all season.

Reece Matysiak attacked the line like I know he can, and ran a full 35 yards to score a sensational opening try. I decided to award this as the Magic Moment and feel it was a justified choice, well done big lad!

The Opposition Man of the Match was Thomas Sowerby for the 15th time this season, and did he take it to Normanton, very aggressive in defence with over 16 tackles. Thomas as always can pull a 4 pointer out of the bag when we need it, and tonight was no exception. The second try was a sensational effort beating 5 defenders to score, and win the game with less than a minute to go, well done Tom.

Parents' choice went to Mathew Sowerby who is looking like a quality front rower. Mathew hit the ball up many times, and against a fantastic defence always made his 10 metres, and almost toped the tackle count, just missing out by one.

Top Tackle award on the night went to Jordan O'Niell who was great tonight with some fantastic running and defending. The enthusiasm shown tonight by Jordan was great to see - well done.Jordan was back to his best in attack, and gave us a taste of what's to come for the rest of this season.

The Coaches Merit, and  well deserved I say, went to Brandon Hill. He ran that ball in very hard, very fast, and on the full, a skill we lack at the moment. Well done Brandon - you are getting better by the week.

The team travel to Lock Lane next for a bruising but always fair encounter with one of the best 10's sides out there. This team is developing, and Lock Land and the Oulton Invaders are the sides we hope we can eventually match.
