     Stanley Rangers U10s v Shaw CrossU10s
      11.10.08

Stanley Rangers Under 10s produced a vintage first half performance against Shaw Cross leaving spectators gasping at the level of skill, pace and power on show. The team was led foward by props Tommy "steam train" Gant, and his partner up front Mathew Sowerby which enabled half back Corry Eatton to direct us round the park. Tommy Gant was awarded the Opposition Man of the Match for his wonderful all round display, and he worked for the full duration of the game.

The boys this week produced a wonderful display of attacking rugby, Thomas Sowerby scoring a magnificent 5 tries, backed up by Nick Fowler bagging a well taken 3 tries, and Matthew Hobson scoring the last try to seal the game. Nick was very very good in attack and was voted the Parents Man of the Match, and a well deserved award it was too!

The game however is not just about scoring, and the defensive effort today was nothing short of awsome, with Thomas Sowerby, Matthew Hobson, Tommy Gant and the eventual top tackler Jordan O'Neill all working their socks off. Jordan is a top defender, and I am over the moon with his attitude, and effort this term.

The team is working hard to play to a system, and we may not win every game we play in, but we are at the moment playing a brand of Rugby that any player, parent, coach or spectator would be proud of. The next game is Thornhil and according to reports they are the team to beat, so this is the game that we will have to be at the best in both attack and defence to have a chance of victory.
