Stanley continued their weekly improvement by grabbing their first win of the second half of the season away to a very big and physical Lock lane outfit. Stanley matched their hosts in the forwards in what was to be a great front row battle.
Stanley’s trio of Declan Honeymann, Owen Trout and Ryan Snowden worked tirelessly in defence and attack to match anything that Lock Lane threw at them. Declan and Owen managed to cross the whitewash two times each in a game of two halves. Stanley raced into a 16-0 lead thanks to tries from Owen Trout, Ben Geen and Alfie Goddard, but as their forward line tired slightly it lefts the gaps needed for Lane to drag their selves back into the game.
Stanley responded by creating numerous opportunities to stretch their lead only for them to spill the ball on three consecutive occasions with the line at their mercy! Due to Stanley’s handling errors Lock Lane managed to take the lead with less than 5 minutes left on the clock, but in typical Stanley fashion they kept going and Declan Honeymann managed to cross for his second score and secure the win, with Cameron Lees slotting over the conversion.
Man Of Steel was shared between front rower’s Owen Trout and Declan Honeymann, Top Tackler went to the ever consistent Ben Green and Outstanding Effort went to Stephen Gibbs for one fantastic tackle in particular. Man of The Match went to Alfie Goddard after a welcome return to form for the stand off who has now fully recovered from his injury problems of the last few weeks.
