Stanley Rangers faced one of their toughest fixtures of the season when they travelled to in-form Stanningley, and were not helped by the fact that they had 6 regulars missing from their line up.
Stanley were never at their best throughout what was a tough encounter. Stanningley’s hard working defence never allowed Stanley to build any momentum and as a result Stanley finished on the wrong side of the scoreboard. There were impressive performances from stand in props Brett Miller and Brad Gallagher who scooped the Man of Steel and Man of The Match awards respectively and also from Top Tackler Danny Stansfield. Owen Trout put in a great shift, completing 40 minutes at prop in warm conditions, and half back Jake Smith impressed enough to pick up the away team Man of The Match. Outstanding effort went to Nick Wilkinson who impressed with and without the ball, making one tackle in particular that certainly prevented a Stanningley try. Stanley’s other stand in prop Stephen Gibbs also worked tirelessly for the cause, taking the ball up on numerous occasions.
Try scorers for Stanley were props Brett Miller and Owen Trout, and also Hooker Ben Green who managed to convert his score as well.
