Stanley started their second half to the season with a tough home fixture against a strong Stanningley team, and the lack of outdoor training over the winter period certainly showed as Stanley produced one of their worst ever defensive displays as they slipped to a disappointing defeat.
Stanley showed some of their usual attacking prowess and managed to cross the whitewash 5 times, but their defensive efforts didn’t match up and Stanningley came out the right side of the scoreboard after crossing 7 times.
Stanley’s scorers were prop forward Owen Trout and stand off Jake Smith who weighed in with two tries apiece and hooker Ben Green also crossed, all three successfully converting. Cameron Lees also notched a conversion for the home side. There were impressive displays from Brett Miller and debutant Oliver Hudson and Winger Lewis Pearson.
