Stanley continued their recent impressive form with a comfortable win at home to Whinmoor.
The visitors struggled to contain Stanley’s rampaging forward line from the opening set, and as usual they set a great platform from which the backs could expose the Whinmoor defence. Jake Smith opened the scoring early on, only for Whinmoor to hit back after a good offload close to the touchline. Stanley soon regained the lead and never really looked back after that, with a forward line of Owen Trout, Ryan Snowden and Declan Honeymann proving too much for the Whinmoor defence to handle.
Alfie Goddard was back to his best, notching a great hat trick of tries and also bagging the Top Tackler award. Cameron Lees also scored and lead the team around the park excellently and deservedly took the Man of Steel award and the away team Man of The Match. Owen Trout was rewarded for his efforts with a hatrick also, and Declan Honeymann also managed to force his way over in the corner. Ben Green won the Outstanding Effort award for a great one-on-one tackle mid way through the second half. There were also good performances from Brett Miller and Karsten Wilson.
