A depleted 12 man squad for the U11s went away to Dewsbury Moor this weekend and played in a match which was definitely a game of two halves!. Unfortunately Rangers were defeated in a match where only the conversion points were the difference in the final score.
Rangers were in fine form in the first half and were first to put points on the table with a try from Lewis Locking. Half backs Thomas Harwood and Sam Clark worked brilliantly together and their passing ability gave good running opportunities to Corey Eaton which earned him the Magic Moment award for the fantastic breaks that he made and to Adam Badkin who went over for the second try of the first Half. Adam gave a fantastic match performance and was awarded Man of the Match along with Thomas Harwood. Player of the week awards were given to Daniel Blundell who stepped up to the mark in both defence and attack and to Jack Badkin for his role as hooker. Top tackler was once again awarded to Kieran Holroyd for his solid defensive performance and he was followed closely by George Lord who had another good defensive game.
Conditions were far from perfect and the hard ground led to Ben Goodlad having to come off before the half time whistle with an injury which reduced the side to only 11 men. Ben managed to come back into the game for the second half but a tired side without the luxury of any subs let Dewsbury Moor slip through with a couple of easy tries .Matthew Ogden was having to cover tackle all over the park and was as reliable as ever and Ross Grattan had to take up the running in the middle of the park after Kieran Holroyd had to come off in the last five minutes of the game.
In the end it was just the difference of the conversion points that gave Dewsbury Moor the victory but overall a good effort was put in by Rangers who didn't really deserve to come away on the losing side.
